Martin Scorsese Directs!

I've been on a bit of Martin Scorsese kick after seeing and loving his latest movie Hugo. Revisiting some of his movies and experiencing others for the first time has been fun. But it's a minute long commercial for American Express that I want to post now. It's hilarious.
I know y'all have probably already seen this. J certainly has. But I thought it may make an interesting conversation piece. Now, I'm not saying that I think it looks bad. Not by a long shot. But as far as trailers go, I find it somewhat weak. Yes, it got me excited to see this movie. But upon second and third viewing, it doesn't continue to strike me the same way. I think a bit more could have been teased without giving away anything that would have REALLY amped up some excitement... at least from me. Anyway, those are just my initial thoughts on the trailer.
For those who may not want to know more about this movie before it comes out, don't watch this. But if you're interested in seeing a more cinematic, somewhat less impressionistic introduction to the story, then by all means, check it out. Looks pretty good to me.
Trent Reznor Scores...

The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo with Atticus Ross. Of course, you already knew that. But had you heard that a six track sampler of the score is now available for free download? Or that you can pre-order the score, which is apparently three hours long, for $12. Or that if you really want to drop some cash, that there's a pre-order available for a deluxe box set? If you had, then I'll say, "Freakin' awesome, sir or ma'am!" If not, then by all means check the link here.
Strangely, someone captured footage of Terrence Malick shooting a new project with none other than Christian Bale. Want to see Malick at work (kind of)? Look here.
I've been trying to follow the mysterious making of Francis Ford Coppola's next movie, entitled Twixt (formerly Twixt Now and Sunrise, which I still prefer), for several months now since I first heard that he had secretly started filming it near his home in California. Apparently, it's a horror-thriller starring Val Kilmer as a sort of hack writer who's pulled into a murder mystery. Aside from that tidbit of information and news that composer Dan Deacon was providing music for the film, I had little else to sate my curiosity. Recently, Coppola announced his intentions to do a sort of traveling road show, "ad-libbing" different versions of the film for each new audience, complete with live music from Deacon, adjusted as the film is shown in whatever sequence Coppola deems suitable. Okay, so that's kind of interesting. Coppola also said he was shooting some sequences in 3D (ugh) to give them a certain feel, but not (thankfully) the whole film. In any event, I've continued to be intrigued. The idea of Coppola even making a horror-thriller near his home in Napa inspired me to come up with a story of my own. Well, having just watched the trailer for Twixt, I am now full-on excited for this film to come out (and excited to see it at the AMC 30 in Barrington, where I saw Tetro, which would be appropriate for me). So without further prattling from me, here it is:
So yeah, Star Wars has been overplayed by Lucas. But this opening cinematic for LucasArts' new game Star Wars: The Old Republic looks amazing. And it has an immediacy and excitement that was somewhat lacking in parts of the prequel movies. Whoever created this cinematic took a long, careful time to do it, I'll wager, and it shows. The movement, I think, looks especially good. What do you all think?
Yes, I know it's a remake. But the trailer is actually interesting, not least of all because it features a re-working of Led Zeppelin's Immigrant Song by none other than Trent Reznor.
