Topic: 2010 Oscar Predictions

Okay, so I'm a little late.  The Oscars have already started and Christoph Waltz just won for best supporting actor.  He was my prediction, anyway, so I'm going to really quickly write down my predictions without any reasons because I'm still at work.

Best Picture - Avatar
Best Director - Kathryn Bigelow, The Hurt Locker
Best Actor - Jeff Bridges, Crazy Heart
Best Actress - Sandra Bullock, The Blind Side
Best Supporting Actor - Christoph Waltz (I know, he just won)
Best Supporting Actress - Mo'Nique
Best Animated Feature - Up
Best Art Direction - Rick Carter and Robert Stromberg, Avatar
Best Cinematography - Barry Ackroyd, The Hurt Locker
Best Costume Design - Catherine Leterrier, Coco Before Chanel
Best Documentary Feature - Food, Inc.
Best Documentary Short - Music By Prudence?
Best Film Editing - Bob Murawski and Chris Innis, The Hurt Locker
Best Foreign Language Film - The White Ribbon
Best Makeup - Star Trek
Best Music (Score) - Alexandre Desplat, Fantastic Mr. Fox
Best Music (Song) - The Weary Kind, Crazy Heart
Best Short Film (Animated) - Wallace and Gromit, A Matter of Loaf and Death
Best Short Film (Live Action) - The New Tenants?
Best Sound Editing - Paul N.J. Ottosson, The Hurt Locker
Best Sound Mixing - Christopher Boyes, Gary Summers, Andy Nelson and Tony Johnson, Avatar
Best Visual Effects - Joe Letteri, Stephen Rosenbaum, Richard Baneham and Andrew R. Jones ,Avatar
Best Adapted Screenplay - Jason Reitman and Sheldon Turner, Up in the Air
Best Original Screenplay - The Hurt Locker

By no means a perfect list (prediction-wise).  I didn't devote much time to making a selection this year.  Oh well.  As of this point - 8:06 PM on Sunday, March 7, 2010 - I've only seen the Best Supporting Oscar Award, so all the rest are right out of left field.  We shall see which are close and which are horribly off-course.

You know, studios are like flies.  They'll both eat honey or shit with the same enthusiasm.

Re: 2010 Oscar Predictions

And I got nine our of 24 wrong apparently.  Oh well.  I figured they might mix things up a bit more between The Hurt Locker and Avatar, but nay.  Seriously, though... Avatar won Best Cinematography?  That just doesn't add up to me.  And while I haven't seen Precious yet, I still think Up in the Air deserved Best Adapted Screenplay.  And Best Picture.  But, c'est la vie.
