Topic: The Best Fast Food Meal for the Road

For my money, the best fast food you can get while on the road is Jimmy Johns.  It's simple.  They make sandwiches faster than any other similar establishment - literally within a minute of your order (in most cases).  The ingredients are fresh every day.  The bread is delicious.  It's healthier than a burger or chicken nuggets.  And if you're like me, you can eat your sandwich in the car.  The key to this last bit is the type of sandwich I get, normally a Slim 1 - ham and cheese.  It's so basic that it promises little to no chance of producing a stain should I drop the sandwich on my shirt or pants.  I can unwrap it and toss the paper aside, eating with one hand and steering with the other.  Of course, if you can't live without mayo, tomatoes, and lettuce, among other extras, then this may not work so well for you.  If I were to order such toppings, I'd be wearing them minutes later.  This is why I never eat in the car (aside from safety concerns as well) unless I have simple ham (or turkey or roast beef, etc.) and cheese.  And a cookie.  And a pop.  I don't feel like I've just ingested a cup of grease, and yet my appetite is sated.  It's perfect.  Doesn't take long to make, easy to eat, and tasty to boot.

Re: The Best Fast Food Meal for the Road

I agree.  Jimmy Johns came into walgreens the other day and gave us all free sandwiches.  I ate three (they were cut in half) and though to myself "I don't feel reeaally full like I would if I just had three jr whoppers."  I even enjoyed the veggie sandwich.  The bread is definitely the key but who would have thought that I love sprouts on a sandwich?  If my mom wanted me to eat them as a kid she just had to put them on a Jimmy Johns sandwich and I would have had no problem.

I like all the extras (i typically dont eat while driving, but that doesn't stop me from spilling on myself).  They don't have as many options as subway but less is more because they have all of the tasty stuff.

On a strange side note, Elizabeth hates Jimmy Johns.  I guess she doesn't like the taste of the bread.  Very strange if you ask me because I love the bread there so much and eat there every time over her favorite: Pot Belly.
